Expedition 18 - Docking to the International Space Station

After launching in a Soyuz TMA-13 spacecraft, Expedition 18 Commander Mike Fincke, Soyuz Commander and Flight Engineer Yury Lonchakov and American Spaceflight Participant Richard Garriott arrived at the International Space Station's on Oct. 14, 2008. Fincke and Lonchakov are beginning a six-month mission on the station, while Garriott will spend nine days on the complex under a commercial agreement with the Russian Federal Space Agency. Fincke, Lonchakov and Garriott docked their Soyuz vehicle to the Zarya module and were greeted by the resident Expedition 17 crew about 90 minutes later. Footage includes the docking to the space station, hatch opening and greetings by the Expedition 17 crew, as well as greetings from officials gathered at the Russian Mission Control Center outside Moscow. .
