The payload that space shuttle Discovery will deliver to the
International Space Station during its STS-133 mission now is
in the shuttle’s payload bay. The Permanent Multipurpose Module (PMM)
and Express Logistics Carrier 4 were loaded into Discovery’s payload bay
Oct. 11 as the shuttle sat on Launch Pad 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The PMM is filled with supplies and Robonaut 2, the first human-like robot
to go into space. The Express Logistics Carrier 4 is an external platform
that holds large equipment and spare parts.
Discovery and its six astronaut crew are targeted to launch
to the space station Nov. 1.
