Technicians on NASA Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Pad 39A in Florida inspect wiring associated with a power distribution box, called the aft load control assembly-2 (ALCA-2) with a borocope on May 6. The box is located inside the aft compartment of space shuttle Endeavour. Teams are narrowing in on the likely source of what caused heaters on a fuel line for Endeavour’s auxiliary power unit-1 (APU-1) to fail April 29, which caused a scrub for the STS-134 mission’s first launch attempt. The ALCA-2 feeds power to the APU-1 fuel line heaters. Teams are working plans to install new wiring between the APU-1 heaters and the ALCA-2. Endeavour now is targeted for launch no earlier than Monday, May 16.
